December 3, 2017: Dragon Club

The week passed quickly as Tess continued to work on prospect tasks. She had to do several before the month was up and thankfully everyone had been very helpful with all of them. There was a small track inside the gated area at the compound that had a time tracker on the start/finish line. One of her tasks was to finish riding the track under a certain amount of time. Nitro and Tess rode the track every day a few times a day to get closer and closer to the target time.

Along with the task she’d been given to gather names of MC staff for all of the MC’s in New York, which she was still working on, she needed to write description reports about five of the groups she’d been to, describing their compound and time track if one existed, which it usually did.

There was also a scavenger hunt of boxes around the compound that she had to locate. In each box was a fact about an MC member, something that described their personality. She had to guess which MC member the description fit and then go to that person and ask them. If she was right, the sheet was signed and she could move onto the next one. This task was particularly easy, since people had been so welcoming and socializing with the family had come naturally.

She also had to be at every event and ride throughout the month of being a prospect. This wasn’t particularly difficult to accomplish either, as she had so much fun hanging out with them and being on a bike made her feel free and like she didn’t have a care in the world. It was like she could finally be herself with these people and she really felt like she belonged.

Tonight Logan Everly, who the MC called “Neo”, was working on last-minute touches to a club that was going to be opening in a few hours. They had been hosting dances, known as Bike Nights, at a small club in the corner of the compound, but had been also working on building a bigger club to have more people and fill the space better. There were several other MC’s who came out for Bike Nights and it was always a great time, with a DJ and a host who greeted everyone at the door. One of Tess’s prospect tasks was to be a host at a Bike Night down the road, when the club was more settled and organized with a clearer schedule of DJ’s.

“So how does it look? Think the dragons outside are big enough?” Neo asked with a chuckle as they rode up to the building. Tess looked up at the massive building with two fire-breathing dragons at either side of the entrance. The club name was displayed above the door and the castle-like structure stood ominously but welcomingly in front of them.

“It looks awesome! I’ve heard so much about this building all month, but it’s cool to finally see it. They wouldn’t let me come over here because I was a prospect,” she reflected, knowing that the area had been taped off to all but members of the MC.

“Tonight is going to be huge,” Neo exclaimed as he led the way inside. “We’re hoping to have at about a hundred people in here… if not more. Several groups have been invited and we’re going to have a contest for best-dressed in gothic wear too. Winner gets a gift card to Turbo’s store.”

“I can’t wait,” Tess said as she followed him towards the dance floor. “Rachel’s already helped me make an outfit that would make Amy Lee proud.” There were bars and games set up all around the club with chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. A DJ booth sat off to the side of the round dance floor. Tess couldn’t help but notice the stripper poles in the corners as well and looked over at Neo. “I hope you’re not expecting me to get up there…”

Neo laughed at her and shook his head. “Not unless you want to… I’m sure Nitro would have no problem with that.”

Tess blushed and looked at him. “You heard about that…?” She instantly thought about the mistletoe kiss last week by the bonfire and looked away.

Neo reached over and put a hand on her shoulder. “I’m just teasing. It’s your business, hun. It’s just good to see you happy and relaxed. You’ve really settled in around here, huh?”

“I am, yeah. Everyone’s been great and I’m working through my tasks…”

“How are those coming?” He asked curiously, holding out his hand to help her step up on the dance floor.

“Good, just a bit overwhelming. But everyone has been really helpful and I’m making my way through them. It’s been teaching me a lot, stuff I didn’t even know about how MC’s worked… I mean, my dad and brother talked about it a bit growing up, but we never really were included in that world.”

“Well then it’s a good thing to learn about it now. At least you were comfortable with the environment coming into it. I on the other hand was definitely a complete newbie to it all. Took me a while to find my footing.” Neo walked around to the DJ booth and said, “Go on, bust a move while I test up this sound system.”

Upbeat Christmas music soon filled the air and Tess couldn’t help but dance around the floor, letting herself go to the moment. There was something about music that touched her soul in a way that nothing else could. She barely even noticed when Neo called out to her and said that he was going to head back to the apartment to get ready for the night. Tess waved to him and headed out as well, riding back towards her room and looking forward to the fun evening ahead.
