December 10, 2017: Girl Time

On Saturday night, Tess and Rachel decided to head out on the road and drive around New York together. Between hosting at the new club, fulfilling prospect tasks and other club meetings, they had been going non-stop all week. By the time the weekend came, Rachel had decided they needed some girl time away from the club to recharge and unwind before the next week began.

They rode through the streets of Bohemia, New York, taking in the sights of an area that Tess hadn’t been to before. It was located about 30 miles from New York City and had only taken them an hour to drive to down the I-495. They drove past the Long Island MacArthur Airport which served as a less-congested alternative to the JFK crowds. They passed Connetquot River State Park as well, which was the centre of the equestrian culture for the town.

At one point they stopped at a gas station and filled up their bikes. Rachel parked a spot in front of the convenience store and went inside to get some snacks for the road. As Tess was filling up her bike, a man with a big bushy beard and long hair walked over to her. He was wearing a vest as well, and it was from a club that she recognized on her list of MC’s that she’d researched.

“Nice ride, sweetheart,” he said with a low voice. “Not the most safest place to ride by yourself ‘round here. Hope you’ve got a friend with you?”

“I do actually. She’s just inside.” Tess avoided eye contact with him as she continued to hold the gas nozzle into the side of the bike.

“Well, maybe you two would like to come with me and my friend and I’ll show you a good time? Our club’s just down the road a few minutes… Where you headed?” Tess didn’t like the suggestive tone he was using, or the obvious staring he was doing as his eyes gazed up and down her body.

“We’re good, thanks… we’re just stopping for gas and then we’ll be on our way.”

“I don’t think you’re hearing me,” the man said and then stepped in front of her, his large body blocking her view of the front door of the store. “I think you should come with me.” He put his hand on her side and looked right at her.

“Please… I’d really just like to finish getting my gas and go in with my friend.”

The man leaned her back against the gas pump and slid his hand into her jacket with a firm grip. Tess felt her heart quicken and she darted her eyes quickly from him to the door. In one fluid motion, Tess raised her knee up and hit the man between the legs, making him jerk back from her, though it wasn’t far enough. “Oh, you want to play?” He asked with a crooked smile and shoved her roughly against the gas station.

Tess tried to keep calm and tried to avoid eye contact with the man, but she was admittedly terrified. She kept trying to push him off of her but he was stronger and managed to lean in and kiss her on the neck, leaving a bite mark there that she felt to her very core. “Get off!” She shouted at him, shoving him further off.

The shouting must have gained Rachel’s attention because it wasn’t long before she ran out of the store and came up behind the man, whacking him over the head with a crowbar she’d gotten from somewhere. Tess bit back the tears of fear and watched as the big man fell down on the ground beside her bike. Rachel reached for her and they got up on their bikes again and rode off away from the gas station. Rachel made a call back to the store clerk who had apparently told her to call once they were a safe distance away. The store clerk insisted he’d call the cops and get their information to him so they could both give statements about what had happened. Rachel told him that they would be at the Mexican restaurant down the street where the officer could meet them.

When they arrived at the restaurant, Rachel stopped her before they went inside. “Are you sure you’re okay?” She asked for the tenth time.

“I’m fine,” Tess said shakily. “Just a little shaken up…”

“We should call Nitro and Madison… You shouldn’t drive back…” Rachel said, referring to the secretary, who was also the president’s wife.

“I don’t know if we need to tell everyone about this… I’m fine, he didn’t do anything too bad, and you totally kicked his ass.”

Rachel shook her head and was definitely not taking no for an answer. “You’re shaken up enough for me to know that I need to call them.”

Tess reluctantly agreed and went into the restaurant with Rachel as she was on the phone. They ordered a couple of taco meals and went to a corner table where they met with the officer who had come to make sure they were alright and take their statement.

Once the officer was done taking the information they needed, Nitro and Madison arrived and came right over to them. Nitro instantly reached for her and pulled her close into a tight embrace, kissing her hair and stroking her back protectively. “Are you okay?” He asked, looking into her eyes.

“Yeah… I’m fine… I just wanna go home,” she said weakly, the shock of the incident wearing off as she looked back at him. “I’m glad you’re here,” she whispered.

“We’re gonna have to get you trained with a gun, young lady… I think that’ll be our next focus for a while. And you girls aren’t going anywhere alone either,” he said firmly, looking between them.

“So what, we’re grounded?” Rachel asked incredulously, hugging Madison tight.

“Not grounded. Protected, sweetie,” Madison insisted and hugged Tess as well. “That’s what we do, remember? We protect each other.”

“Rachel did a damn good job of that with a crowbar,” Tess said proudly.

“You ready to get out of here?” Nitro asked, looking between them.

“Take me home,” Tess insisted, and followed them out to the parking lot. Nitro got on her bike and let her climb on the back. As she wrapped her arms around his strong body, she leaned against his shoulder.

“Stay with me tonight,” he insisted as he looked back at her. She nodded, knowing there was no place she’d rather be as they rode off towards home.
